Now, Now Announce First Full-Length Album in Years; Unveil New Single “AZ”

Today, Now, Now has announced some exciting news. Along with a brand new single, the indie-pop dynamic duo has finally revealed the release date for their highly-anticipated studio album titled Saved, due for release on May 18th via Trans Records. This album will be a momentous one for the iconic pair, as it is the first full-length release in roughly six years (since Threads back in 2012). It also marks a milestone in the band’s career since going back to their roots as a two-piece, and why we felt they are a band to watch in 2018.

Saved will be a mysterious one to fans, though it is undoubtly an important and personal one to both KC Dalager and Brad Hale, signifying their struggle to save both their musical careers and themselves. The process was long and trying to each member, but in the end they came out with great insight and a solid vision for the future.

“Once we really followed our own vision is really when things started coming together quickly.”

“I was definitely scared at the start of the process to go outside of [the] box,” says Brad, “but I wanted to so bad. Once we really followed our own vision is really when things started coming together quickly.”

“If we had put an album out right after Threads, we wouldn’t have gone through that period of self-discovery,” says KC. “I think we would’ve continued to stifle our emotions and hide the fact that we were struggling as much as we were. We needed to hit rock bottom.”

The band did an extensive interview with FADER on the meaning behind the album and the journey leading up to it. You can read the full story here.

“This is the most exposed I’ve ever been lyrically. I’ve never been this open.”

Now, Now has been teasing the new album for some months now with their comeback single, “SGL”, and its follow-up “Yours”, while keeping the album details under wraps. The band’s new single “AZ” gives us a little peak inside KC and Brad’s minds while writing the new album. Though the song sends us back to simpler times with its warm sound and nostalgic vibe, KC speaks hauntingly of holy figures in the night in the verses, making it their most mystifying yet honest piece to date.

“I’d never felt comfortable being myself. I always felt like I needed to hide behind something,” KC explains. “’Back to the heart of it all’ from the song ‘AZ’ is the most important conceptual lyric for this album. This is the most exposed I’ve ever been lyrically. I’ve never been this open.”

Though the band played the song incognito on their most recent tours, they have now finally released the studio version we’ve been longing for. Listen to the new track “AZ” here.
