After four years of anticipation, Pierce the Veil’s new album Misadventures was finally released on May 13, 2016. One of the most anticipated albums of the year, the band’s fourth full-length release sure does not disappoint. Their hard work was definitely rewarded when “Circles,” a track from the new album, became the first Pierce the Veil song ever to be played on KROQ 106.7 FM. In commemoration, the world famous KROQ hosted a private concert on June 28 at LA’s Red Bull Sound Space to be filmed and broadcasted live on their website.
Pierce the Veil played an amazing, fully energized set featuring songs from Misadventures, as well as a few iconic classics from a previous album, Collide with the Sky. They brought just as much passion and high energy to the set that they did crafting the songs, truly making the music come to life. In between songs, frontman Vic Fuentes briefly explained the album’s creative process, as well as the personal meanings behind the music. He also revealed that the “Circles” music video has been filmed and will be released soon. (Hopefully, fans won’t have to wait four years like we did with this latest album! However, it’s been proven that Pierce the Veil has loyal, patient, die-hard fans.) During their set, Pierce the Veil interacted with the crowd as much as they could, putting on the best show possible. They really conveyed the emotions and feelings behind the songs as audience members saw them performed before their eyes. The music sounds even better live than it does in the recordings, and interesting performance visuals made the experience even more worthwhile.
The concert was followed by a brief interview during which the fans got to learn more about band members in an informal setting. They even had the chance to ask the guys a few questions! Afterwards, Pierce the Veil was able to sign the Red Bull Sound Space’s wall of fame, where the names of all the famous bands that have played the venue are immortalized. After being given complementary Red Bull, it was the end to a day filled with great music and good people! I hope that Pierce the Veil’s first ever radio related event to more opportunities like this in the future!
