Ever since the Magnolia Silos opened in 2015, Waco has seen an influx of tourists coming from all over the country. The Silos are a beautiful place to visit, but there are many more parts of Waco that are worth exploring.
The Food Trucks
A short walk away from Magnolia Market is a row of food trucks that have a beautiful view of the Brazos River. Though the food trucks rotate occasionally, there are a few that are always there and are worth trying. Xristo’s is a Greek inspired food truck that serves amazing gyros, pita, and hummus. Just down from Xristo’s is The Blasian Asian. This food truck serves up authentic Cambodian cuisine and other Asian-inspired dishes. So if you’re feeling hungry and don’t want to stop at the usual chain restaurants around town, I highly recommend checking these out.
Older than the state of Texas, Baylor University is a sight to see. The campus is absolutely beautiful and a joy to walk through. The architecture of the buildings is Instagram perfect and it is usually pretty quiet during the summer months. While there, be sure to check out the Bear Pit where Lady and Joy, Baylor’s very own American Black Bears, reside.
Cameron Park Zoo
The Cameron Park Zoo is highly underrated. It is usually not too crowded and the exhibits are a sight to see. At the zoo, you can expect to animals such as gibbons, jaguars, tigers, lions, elephants, and many more. If you want to escape the crowds, the zoo is the place to be.
This is just a short list of places to visit in Waco before or after you visit Magnolia. So instead of just making a pit stop in Waco, explore more options and make it a weekend getaway.
