This summer, Taking Back Sunday teamed with Coheed and Cambria on an exciting, nostalgia filled co-headlining tour. The two bands rocked out in Irvine, CA on Saturday, August 11 alongside The Story So Far, who opened for the two headliners.
The Long Island five-piece embarked on the tour in support of their 2016 release, Tidal Wave. In addition, Coheed went out in support of their upcoming record release for their new album The Unheavenly Creatures, which is set to release on October 5th, 2018 via Roadrunner Records.
Taking Back Sunday furiously commanded Saturday night’s stage with their explosive presence. With as much energy and adrenaline as ever, the band flawlessly led their Orange County audience through their catalogue of songs. From “Timberwolves at New Jersey” and “A Decade Under the Influence” to “Death Wolf” or “Call Come Running”, Taking Back Sunday provided a generous mixture of classic hits alongside new material from Tidal Wave.
Between his charismatic microphone swings and light stage banter, frontman Adam Lazzara stopped mid-set to scream out into the audience and was met with a deafening applause. “I’m having a fantastic evening with you beautiful people! Thank you very much for that!”
Just before closing out, Lazzara took a moment to hype the crowd up in preparation for the end of the night and had the amphitheater erupt in a roaring “Coheed” chant. The band then finished out their time on stage with their hit “MakeDamnSure”. The entire audience held up their phones and sang along at the top of their lungs. As the set came to a close, each band member exited the stage one by one as the song slowly fizzled out and Taking Back Sunday was left with a well-deserved eruption of applause.
