The Maine are back in action with the announcement of their latest EP, Covers (Side B), to be released on June 24th. It’s the sequel to Covers (Side A) which was released last December.

Covers (Side A) focused more on on ’90s pop songs, featuring the band’s take on each song. The tracklisting for Covers (Side B) hasn’t been released yet, but the band wanted to take a more modern approach to what they recorded. “We have not covered any current songs in a long time, so we wanted to branch out and try something current,” said drummer Pat Kirch.

The first single from the upcoming EP has been announced: “Love Yourself,” a Justin Bieber cover. The single will premiere on the band’s website on April 21st at 5 P.M. PST (8 P.M. EST).

Does this make the band a group of “Beliebers”? Just take vocalist John O’Callaghan’s word for it: “To beliebe or not to beliebe is not the question here, because no one can deny the quality of Sir Justin’s tune. We haven’t fully converted to the church of Bieber just yet, but we decided to try our hand at covering this religious hymn.”

The EP’s release coincides with the first day of the Vans Warped Tour, where The Maine will be performing all summer. The EP will be released digitally on the 24th, or fans can pick up a physical copy while the band’s on the road. Covers (Side B) will be given away for free with the purchase of American Candy, the band’s fifth studio release.
