The Retrograde tour began early this month in support of Crown the Empire’s latest album. This tour is making stops around the country, and I was lucky enough to see it in Worcester, MA.
Too Close to Touch was the first band I was able to catch that night. They played some songs off of their latest release Haven’t Been Myself, such as fan-favorite “Symphony.” Keaton Pierce’s vocals absolutely blew me away. I was able to catch them last year and forgot how good they are. Too Close to Touch is such an underrated band. Check them out if you haven’t already.
Next up was New Years Day, opening the night with one of their most popular songs, “Kill or Be Killed.” Ash Costello is one talented, badass chic and it was empowering to see a female front a rock band. New Years Day is a unique experience to see and fans were loving it.
Blessthefall followed and continued to get the crowd jumping. They played songs off of To Those Left Behind and Hollow Bodies, such as “Dead Air” and “You Wear a Crown But You’re No King.” Their set was full of passion and energy from beginning to end.
Ending the night was Crown the Empire. They played songs off of Retrograde, as well as hits off of older albums. Some favorites of the night were “Hologram,” “Millennia,” and “The Fallout.” Everything from the production to the performance was on point. Despite being short a member this tour, the band still put on an unforgettable performance. After hearing it live, I went home and immediately downloaded their new album.
This tour is full of talent; be sure to catch one of the remaining dates and grab a copy of Retrograde!
